About The CMS

The Well Site Studio Content Management System is simply the result of a desire to do things better. The CMS was designed with the customer in mind, and prioritizes ease of use. Over the years we have developed many sites using other popular content management systems such as WordPress, osCommerce, Drupal and Joomla. We have taken what we believe are the best attributes of these systems and developed an entirely new platform. We have combined that with the latest in web technologies, such as jQuery, and social networking integration (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, etc.). Our unique approach to development allows us to create your unique website in a timely manner — days rather than weeks or months.

History of the CMS

where-to-start.pngDevelopment on the system began in 2009 with the goal of delivering huge value at a substantially reduced cost. In the past, a major roadblock that has hindered us from taking on more personal clients is the overhead necessary to build a site ground-up each time, given that the standards & technologies change. Pre-packaged solutions such as WordPress, Joomla or Drupal have their benefits (we have implemented all 3 in the past), but we have found them to be lacking because any modifications can take the site “off the reservation”, making upgrades a little tricky and unpredictable. Also, the time and energy needed to maintain many different sites, in various states of currency is often more trouble than it’s worth.

The Well Site Studio supports many sites sharing a common codebase, which addresses many of the issues that have impeded me from taking on smaller scale projects. The engine that runs features such as a blog, shopping cart (and whatever else one would want) is shared by sites on a single server, which facilites an enterprise running multiple sites to create new sites in the most efficient manner possible. New developments would be added as clients request them or through our own initiatives. An important thing to consider is that our own website runs on this platform, so we have a vested interest in making sure all components are working properly. Using this model eliminates the unfortunate occurrence of “orphaned” sites, as developers move on to the next project.

Our platform offers a huge benefit to both developers and website stakeholders. Developers have access to a rich library of available site applications which can be easily customized to suit each client. Website users and stakeholders have access to the most intuitive user interface on the market, without sacrificing the complex functionality required by high-end sites. We are constantly improving and adding new features to the platform, so you can be sure that your site will always be up to date.

Future Of The CMS

We are currently undertaking initiatives to release the Well Site Studio as an open source platform. We are very excited about taking it to the next level. There is a tremendous amount of work that needs to be done prior to its release, but we believe that the Well Site Studio has advantages over other content management systems, and we look forward to submitting our contribution to the open source community.
